Procedure

Prior to treatment the area to be corrected is anesthetized. We prefer to place a topical anesthetic on the skin for about 2 hours to make the procedure comfortable. After the injection of the HA the skin is massaged to smooth contours. Treatment can be staged 5-7 days apart to reach the desired level of correction.

Refilling will be necessary in 5-12 months depending on the areas treated and HA used.

The cost of the procedure depends on the amount of HA used.

Precautions

HA injections should not be given in areas where inflammation or infection exists. Please tell us if you are aware of any such skin condition.

Complications

Bruising at the site of the injection may last for a week. If you are taking anything known to thin your blood, please stop for at least 7 days prior to your treatment. Ask us for a list of medicines and supplements to avoid. Local redness and swelling may occur and can persist for several days. Local allergic reactions have been reported. They are rare.

Post Injection Instructions

Swelling occurs with injections. Swelling of the lips may last for several days. We will put cold compresses on the treated areas as needed.  Pain medicines after injections have not been necessary to date.

RESTRICTIONS

Exercise, showering and make-up are all OK.  We ask that you limit your salt intake the day of treatment.
